J. COLE Video

Raised by his mother in North Carolina, J. Cole's hometown of Fayetteville would provide much of the sights and experiences that would come to shape his sound. Cole fell into rapping at the age of 12 when his cousin from Louisiana spent the summer in Fayetteville, showing him the basics of rhyming. He was instantly hooked. From there he delved deep into the music of hip hop luminaries including Tupac Shakur, Nas and Outkast, taking from them a love for telling stories with an unbridled rigor. Seizing every opportunity to write, at age 15 J. Cole found himself with composition notebooks full of rhymes but no beats of his own to lay them on. Determined to create original songs, he begged his mother for a beat machine so he could produce music solely for himself. She granted his wish and from there, a young Cole spent all his free time creating sounds and songs that would lay the foundation for what his style has evolved to today.  -jcolemusic.com

What's Poppin Wit MESS?

Don't hate! Mess is entertaining and a fool. This shit had me rolling.

Eminem kills "Over x Beamer Benz Bentley"

As much as I think that Eminem don't really spit like he used to in the 90's, I still give him mad props and respect for his delivery. Don't put him on a feature, cause he'll murk yo shit!

When I was listening to the Wake Up Show every night back then, Juice and Eminem were my favorites!!

I found these beats on a couple CDs. As far as I can remember these were made circa 2002-2004 I don't have the sessions to the beats anymore so I thought maybe you'd like this compilation. Feel free to use it in any of your projects. Just give me credit where due.

Also, the beats are not full length, so you'll have to find a way to loop them to your desired length. Enjoy! DOWNLOAD

It's been over 10 years since I last picked up a can of spray paint and actually got down. Actually, it was also the same scenario for fellow graffiti artist, KORS & DOER. So bare with us.

Painting graffiti in the daylight got to be one of the freshest activities under the sun. I had the pleasure of painting a wall in San Francisco on Bluxome Street alongside with 3 other good friends, KORS, DOER & SOROK. It was an effort to help uplift our hip hop roots in memory of a close friend, Julius Torres. Painting on legal walls eliminates the pressures of looking over our shoulders scoping for cops. AND being able to paint with MONTANA PAINT was bliss. Real talk, if you haven't painted with Montana you really are missing out.

I'm hoping this will be an ongoing series of videos. Next time, I'll be sure to film a time lapse so you can see the process. Trust. AND YES!! I can paint. Well kind of. LOL!

Thanks for watching!

Durt Reynolds "One Night Stand"

I've worked with Durt Reynolds for about a year now and let me tell you this; the German is determined! No rhyme intended. The first session at 37Hundred.com he was bustin' so fast it reminded me of Tech 9. Durt Reynolds is an honest rapper with a dirty mouth. So, check out more of his music at www.DurtReynolds.com

This is his video. He shot, directed and edited himself. On location in San Francisco, Queens NY, Amsterdam, and Germany! Hats off to the homie Durt!

My first attempt at Chroma Key

I installed the green backdrop into my studio today (37Hundred.com). This is my first attempt dealing with the Chroma Key effect in Final Cut.

In the video is Keilani, the studio's little helper.

DaVinci's latest music video "BEN"

I gotta tip my hat to the SWTBRDS collective again for another successful release. You gotta respect their grind. They built such great momentum for the Fillmore native, DaVinci. If you had the time to sit down with the collective and pick they brain, I promise you'll leave with a lot of insight for the independent game, and not just in the Bay Area but on a Nationwide level. He's been broadcast over and over online for his solo debut "The Day Turf Stood Still" and is still managing a pretty wave. Congratz!

Here is DaVinci's video "BEN"

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW! (like an angel in the sky)

Rest in Paradise Keith "GURU" Elam

"Above the Clouds"
July 17, 1966 – April 19, 2010

Guru was definitely a big inspiration in my life. A true head in my book. I can remember buying his records so I can spin Premiers instrumentals at open mics and in the leisure of my garage. DAMN! We lost a good one.

Here is one of my most recent favorite records of Guru! RIP.

Adobe Creative Suite 5

I couldn't be more stoked about the next Adobe Creative Suite. This is some real breakthrough software. If not, the best upgrade ever! Were talking faster work flows between software, incredible NEW plugins, HDR, and 64bit! Wow, I'm geeking out right now. I've never used Adobe's video editing programs, but it looks like Final Cut will have to take the back burner after I try this Creative Suite out. Adobe Premier is on some next level stuff. Check it out!

NOW, check out this new plug in for Photoshop.

Brett Domino killin' on the Stylophone

OK OK OK. This isn't as cool as the Japanese Nike commercial, but DAMNIT this guy makes slaps too.

126 LED Light for Canon 5D Mark II

I found this 126 LED light to be quite useful for my Canon 5D Mark II. It has a cool dimmer so that you can control the brightness of the light and it also comes with 2 light diffusers to help soften the light. All just under $70. Check it out! AND all you new aspiring film makers, like myself, can thank me later.

Mistah F.A.B. freestyling to Dex Beats

So I was on twitter and FAB mentions a plug for his latest tape "Realest Shit I Never Wrote 3" and also plugs an exclusive video of him freestyling. AND whatta' know, FABBY must've been going through his email at the time and pulled the catalog I sent him! It was a coincidence running into this video and hearing my beat. DOPE! Thanks bruh.

NIKE beats!!

This is sooooo ill. You gotta see this.

I'm a sucka for beats!!

This tribute is dedicated to Julius Steven Torres. Rock in Paradise.

I wanted to write this tribute to a crew responsible for molding me into the artist, musician and producer I am today. April 11, 2010 I attended Jules' memorial in Daly City, the birth place of the legendary Concrete Rockers. I seen a lot of old faces and had to pretty much reintroduce myself to everyone again. After almost 18 years, its sad to have to meet everyone again under these circumstances, but having known Jules helped me realize where a lot of my Hip Hop roots came from. That night I was most emotional when I saw the crew start a circle in memory of their lost brother. Watching them reminded me of the power of Hip Hop and why I love it so much.

Concrete Rockers was the first group of friends that thrived on the culture of Hip Hop. It was maybe '93, maybe '94, the golden era of Hip Hop when my sister introduced me to the Concrete Rockers. As far as I can remember, they were the first group of friends that b-boyed, tagged, emceed, and DJ'ed all in the same room, all at the same time and all for the love of Hip Hop. It was a family thing and I loved that about them.

Julius reminded me of those beautiful days and how it manifested into my everyday life. I am truly grateful for meeting Con Rok. They are the reason why I live and breath Hip Hop. Thanks bro!

NIO THE GIFT "Angel and Demons"

Richmond's Nio the Gift is an official artist. Haven't met guy yet, but I'm hoping I will. I think we can make some timeless music together. BAY AREAAAA!

FREE BEATS by East Vallejo producer Indecent the Slapmaster!

"I was cleaning off some of my hard drives and ran across some old beats that were never used from 3 to4 years ago. Thought I would give back to the siccness so here you go!" -Indecent

FAT JOE "Ha Ha" (Slow down) feat. Jeezy

If PUN were still here he would'a MURKED this beat. BUT, Fat Joe and Jeezy will have to do. Still a hot single! By the way, the producer to Fat Joe's "Ha Ha" (Slow Down) track is Scoop Deville from the Get Busy Committee.

BEHIND THE SCENES: Making of the "Slow Down" video

A consistant Online Presence is a must!!

I don't want any new equipment for the studio. I want one of these!

Wipe your feet!!

Here's a another cool widget I got from the guys at funtheory.com. ITS THE SKRATCH MAT!! This is sooo ill. Listen to the music in the store. Every time someone wipes their feet on the mat, the music pulls forward and back just like a turntable controller is to a dj iphone app.

The Jacka & Freeway Experience

The folks of Footwork Ent. had me come to their collaboration session with The Jacka at 17Hertz studios. I had produced the track so they thought it would be a good idea to be a part of the whole process. I was later informed that Freeway was there working on music for an upcoming project with The Jacka, so its only right I play some beats. The first night I had only ONE beat to play for Freeway. That's it, one shot to impress one of my favorite rappers, hands down. It was a winner! Enjoy.

Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine

Interesting video about Dr. Dre's Detox and the digital revolution.

If they aint gon make a "Friday after next next week" this gotta be it. LOL!
